We toured American House Sterling Woods. The only thing about it was we ran into some hidden fees that I didn't care for, and they weren't very caring when we tried to get help about it. They had a salon, a movie theater, and a rehab facility. The staff wasn't very warm to my mother. The food wasn't of very good quality, and there wasn't a very good selection of food. It was located near restaurants, and there was a grocery store near it.

My aunt was at American House Sterling Woods for two years. It was for assisted living, but a medical team was also added there. They did med administration and that sort of thing. Their food was good. They had a good nutrition program, but everything was a la carte. I also had trouble with the medical end of it. They didn't keep good track of her med distribution. For activities, they had the same thing. They had movie night, trivia, bingo, games, and stuff, but they don't keep you engaged. They don't come and get you, and they don't ask you if you want to do it. So, it's not good for people who have memory issues because they don't remember to go down. And they don't have staff there that will go in there and say, 'Hey, we're about to play bingo, anybody wants to come?' They don't do that. It's just you're on your own to do what you want. My aunt's apartment was nice. It was a one-bedroom apartment. It was a decent size for being in a facility like that. The place was clean, they kept it up, and it was very nice inside.

Mom moved into American House Sterling Woods. First of all, it's pretty homey and the price is right. It's lower than the last place she was at, and the people are very nice. The staff and the residents are very nice. I have a little bit of an issue with the med team, but they're way better now. At this point, they're doing a really good job. But in the beginning, it was tough for us because the meds hadn't come in and all that. So it wasn't their fault. It was just a matter of getting the correct medications from the last home. But overall it's great. They have kitchens. The food is ok. They have all kinds of activities, and they have a salon for hair and a movie theater. They have everything.
Read moreI had a great tour with American House. I just did not find it as clean or spacious as another facility that I was looking into.
We did have a negative happening. My loved one falls a lot and she fell and pushed the button and they came in and told her it was going to cost her extra and they did not treat her with dignity at all. She said that the food is too salty as well and the quality is not very good.
They do a great Job of keeping clean, and service is good.
