We toured Big Springs Place and they were all nice, friendly, upbeat, and positive. The staff seemed happy and content, and seemed to like the residents. Everyone seemed to get along well. We saw the posted list of things that they do as well as their menu and they all looked good. A group was playing bingo when we were there while other areas had puzzles out. They had little garden areas, bird feeders outside the windows to look out, and rocking chairs on the front porch to just sit. The living area was nice, very well-maintained, clean, and very pretty. The two things that I appreciated about the place were the handrails in the hallway looked nice and were painted nicely. It didn't look like those metal handrails in a hospital. It looked almost like molding. Whoever designed it, made it as friendly and as homey as they could. The most positive thing was it did not smell like a medical facility. It smelled like home. The rooms were nice. Everything was very well painted. You can even hang pictures out there. It's not cinder block walls. It's normal walls. There were nice windows. So, it's nice and bright. The bathrooms were handicapped-accessible and large enough to put a wheelchair in.

The apartments are very clean and they keep all the gathering spaces and open common rooms very clean. The staff are very good. We like the smaller scale of the community, it is not to overwhelming for our loved one. Based on their calendar they seem to have fairly a lot of activities going on.
We're happy with them so far! I've already told a bunch of people how much better they are than where my mom was before. We're well satisfied with the care. The facility itself is good, no problems with cleanliness, etc. For the price and the care she's getting, it's an excellent value. I don'...
